Community Radio Broadcast ‘Blue Skies Festival’

On Saturday 11th August 2012, SerenA played a part in the community radio broadcast at ‘Blue Skies Festival’, Dundee’s festival of kite flying, stargazing and rainbow chasing which runs from 10 to 12 August 2012.

Blue Skies will be bringing a specially commissioned community radio listening station to this years Celebration in the Park. Created by Daniela Rovira Sanchez, a Design student from the University of Dundee, this oversize domestic radio will be playing back a variety of community-based audio channels, including conversations with musician King Creosote, baker Andrew Whitley and artist-in-residence in Dundee’s pubs David Yu. The listening post will also feature stories from residents in Mill O’Mains and a dialogue about the role of serendipity in building communities.

Designer Daniela Rovira Sanchez created a quirky stand alone supersized radio and installed it in Baxter Park. SerenA’s Dan Norton ‘Vaguely Drift‘ Remix of the Serendipitous Community Panel talk featuring Diana Bental, Debbie Maxwell, Stephann Makri and Mel Woods was chosen as one of the contributions.
