From Web design to wedding

I was tentatively setting up in business and I was completely clueless about how to go about doing so. I was given the telephone number of a website designer by a business adviser I had been assigned to. The number he gave me was incorrect so I asked for it again. The so-called business adviser then gave me an email address of someone with a completely different name to the earlier one I was given. I mentally shrugged and emailed him anyway enquiring about the cost of having a website designed by him (my budget was miniscule). He replied telling me that he wasn’t a website designer but that he would be willing to help me if he could. He ended up creating a website for me, a costing model, helping me pitch to the financial group that I approached for funding, setting up my accounts and helping me with marketing ideas – and didn’t charge me a penny!

We got to know each other via email and on the phone but didn’t meet until 10 months later. We met at a business function and he immediately felt absolutely right to me – like I had known him my whole life. Everyone who was there assumed we were a long-standing couple and couldn’t believe it when we told them it was the first time we had met.

It is now three and a half years since I sent that enquiry email and we are now happily living together. Serendipity, luck or fate brought into my life someone who has helped me to have the confidence in myself and my abilities to launch a business and met the love of my life.

By the way we are both in our forties and neither of us had ever met anyone we had wanted to live with before we met each other.
