Never too old

One morning my mum (who is 91 years old) asked me to read her tarot cards. In the reading, I was able to tell her that she was being held back by her own inhibitions, worrying about an outcome that may never happen.

An hour later my sister dropped by and suggested coffee, so I told my mum and sister I would take them to a 1950’s diner they had both avoided in the past. To my amazement my mum agreed, saying she wanted to go somewhere new.

Over coffee we began chatting to a group of bikers having breakfast at the next table and we discovered they were members of a Harley Chapter.

When I told them my mum had always wanted to ride on a Harley, they offered to take her out then and there.

She immediately agreed and 11 strangers took her out on their bikes. They made her an honorary member of their Chapter and we’ve all met up since. She is now their mascot. All because she decided not to let her inhibitions carry on restricting her life. As an aside, she is now organising to pilot a small aircraft!
