My lucky life

I really feel open to lucky encounters and throughout my life I’ve had had strange lucky circumstances.

After high school graduation, I went abroad for a year, which at that time was considered a very immature action as all of my friends went to University, but I decided not to go. However the following year, when I returned home, a new private University opened; I enrolled as the first year of students, graduated as a valedictorian (an academic title given to a student who delivers the closing or farewell statement at a graduation ceremony, this person is usually highest student ranking among the graduating class). I got better education and experience then my friends who went to the state University the year before.

How did I meet my husband? Ha! We’d known of each other for a few years, and we often met through friends of friends, but somehow we never had the chance to speak to each other. One night I was out with my girlfriends for a quiet dinner and when we decided to go home, we passed by a night-club and I remember wondering who might be inside. Still, we decided that we were too tired to go partying and that we’d go home. However, after walking for 10 meters, I stopped and said to my girlfriends: ”Hey, how often do we go partying during work nights? Now, we are here, we are already dressed up, let’s go inside and see, if we don’t like it, we’ll leave!” We went inside, we met a very good friend of ours and after 10 minutes or so, my future husband arrived. He and I got talking and immediately linked up. We have now been married for 5 years, and have 2 children. I can’t help thinking if I’d gone straight home that night I may never have met him.

My job? I never look for announcements of open positions. Somehow, they always open for me. I was working for a state institution where I was really miserable. They announced that they needed to make redundancies, I thought I might be first in line because of my political beliefs. Then, company who had offices next door invited me to work for them. I agreed. After few years, I left my job and stay at home with my first child. When I decided to go back to work, I had an encounter with an old friend who I never really got on with. He told me that the company that I was working for split up and “the better” people established new company and again, I was invited to work for them. Now, I am nearly at the end of my contract, but I don’t fear for my future because I know that something will open up for me. I don’t know what, I don’t know when, I just know that something interesting will come in front of my eyes.
