Luck and Taekwondo

At the end of 2008, my long term boyfriend broke up with me. I found myself with nowhere to live and very few friends. A work college invited me to play volleyball with her and her brothers. I decided to go along. On the day, the boys were hung over so they decided to go to the pub instead, I thought “why not?” so I went along too. My friend and I won $9000 playing the pokies. I could now afford a bed, my very own bed and matching side tables! I was so excited!
I had been living with my sisters friend for a few weeks till I found a place to live and he had convinced me to join a Taekwondo class to learn some self defense and to rebuild my confidence. A year later, I worked up the courage to go to my first class. So I found a class close to home and went along one night. It was very intimidating going by myself but I’d convinced myself there was no backing out. And once I saw the instructor there was definitely no backing out. He was gorgeous! Within a few short weeks we’d started dating. And a year later we were engaged to be married. We didn’t have much so our wedding was going to be small. My sister came with me to the bridal expo and helped me enter every competition there. We thought if I won something that would be a little more money for something else in the wedding. Not expecting to win anything my fiancé (Now husband) and I were very shocked to receive a phone call “You’ve won our $20,000 wedding package!” We couldn’t believe our luck. We were married in August 2012 and our wedding was a true fairytale.
