ESRC Science Festival and SerenA

Hi all,

As part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, we would like to invite you to attend our interactive event at Nottingham Castle on Friday 8th November 2013.

Our event will explore information sharing and connection-making based on the SerenA – Chance Encounters in the Space of Ideas project. It will help engage members of the public with the Castle in a more personal manner, making personal suggestions based on information that they have provided, while demonstrating the notion of sharing information for enhancing cultural experiences and connection-making.

People who would like to participate to our event will need to register with us prior to the event. During the online registration, participants will need to provide some basic information about themselves (e.g. personal interests, occupation) in the form of keywords. All information collected during the registration phase will be kept anonymous and confidential according to the Data Protection Act 1998. Based on the information provided by the audience, suggestions will be generated that will map personal interests with the Castle’s exhibits. The written suggestions will be distributed to the audience on the day of the event at the Castle’s reception stand. The suggestions generated will aim to inspire visitors. Visitors will have the opportunity to share on a SerenA Guestbook their impressions and thoughts on sharing information and receiving suggestions within a cultural environment at any point throughout the day.

If you would like to visit the castle and take part in our event, please express your interest by emailing:

Bronya.norton@nottingham.ac.uk by no later than Friday 1st November.

Entrance to the castle for the day will be at no cost to participants.

We look forward to seeing you there.
