The Serendipitous Community: SerenA at the Small Society Lab

Last month, SerenA took part in the Small Society Lab at Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA). This included a panel discussion around the idea of the Serendipitous Community; a space where connections can be made and serendipity encouraged.

Chaired by Mel Woods, guest speakers from the SerenA team (Dr Stephann Makri from UCL, Dr Diana Bental from Heriot-Watt, & Dr Debbie Maxwell from University of Dundee) spoke about Serendipity, Connections, the Semantic Web, & Design. They claimed that serendipity cannot be engineered, but digital technology (and the Semantic Web in particular) can be helpful in opening up opportunities for serendipitous events.

If you want to know more, you can watch the recorded discussion on our YouTube channel.
