Call for PhD students to attend BCS HCI ‘Delight’ Workshop

The SerenA RCUK project has identified an opportunity to fund the registration fee to enable 5 PhD students to attend Understanding Delight in Design: User Experience, Technologies and Tools workshop at BCS HCI 2012.

The workshop will provide PhD students with the opportunity to present a short introduction of their research, participate in position-paper discussions, and draw on aspects of their research to share with facilitators and other workshop participants. In line with the SerenA project’s interdisciplinary approach, the workshop is open to students from all disciplines that address areas of affective interaction, designing for emotion, ‘delight’ vs. usability, and evaluation of such concepts.

The workshop will be held on Monday, September 10, from 1.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m., Birmingham, prior to the main conference and will be facilitated by Mel Woods (PI) and Dr. Genovefa Kefalidou (Research Fellow) from the SerenA Project.

To take part and be considered for a workshop fee waiver please send a summary (250 words) of your research and outline the relevance to the themes of the workshop to Genovefa Kefalidou (Genovefa.Kefalidou@nottingham.ac.uk).

The deadline for submission is 6th September, 2012, and notification is on 7th Sept, 2012.

Please note the project cannot cover expenses incurred for travel, accommodation or subsistence.
