A surprise family holiday in Venice

A few years ago my husband and I decided to book a short trip to Venice; we hadn’t been living in the UK for long having moved over from South Africa and decided it was a place we would love to explore together.

At the time my Australian cousin (whom I hadn’t seen for years) had been mountain climbing with my Uncle and Aunt in Austria and I received a text message out of the blue from him detailing where they were going to be for the next month or so and sure enough he mentioned Venice. A few messages back and forth and we realised we were going to be in the city at exactly the same time without any prior arrangement. So when my husband and I arrived in Venice we grabbed a map, wandered through the labyrinth of streets and met up with the family at a little cafe near Rialto bridge!

It was as if no time had passed at all. We had a wonderful mini family reunion and got to explore the beautiful city and catch up on all the news from the other side of the world just by chance and serendipitous travel planning. It was a fabulous moment that just came together so beautifully and made us all very happy.
